We have arrived to a wet and cold Hobart winter’s day – sorry I mean lovely English Summer’s day. It has been very wet unfortunately but that has not dampened our spirits or urge to get out and see the sights of London.
Our day started early with the drive up from Berkshire and we arrived at Australia House for our reception with the Australian High Commissioner Mr John Dauth AO LVO. Pictured is the room in which we had our reception. An interesting fact is that ALL materials used to build Australia House were shipped to London during WWI from Australia. It is a most impressive building. We had a guided tour of the building by staff of the Commissioner which was superb.
A walk down the Strand and we ended up at Trafalgar Square where the boys took off and checked and some the sights around the area. Leicester Square and Covent Garden were on the list and a few ended up in the National Art Gallery.
The lads are compiling their shopping lists and purchasing gifts for all of you at home…some impressive and not so impressive gifts, I guess it is the thought that counts!!! We are having a great time and looking forward to the next few days before we fly out on Monday evening.
Stay tuned for the last few days.
